Watford gardens are often smaller than the Hertfordshire stereotype, especially closer to the town. A courtyard approach — paving, a planter, pots, and one clear route — usually does more than trying to fit a suburban lawn into a space that will not take one.
Access is the other constraint. Terraces and semis with a side gate decide the size of machine that can be used. The mini digger and dumper are hired with that in mind: if the gate will not take them, the job is planned by hand or the spoil comes out the front.
