Mr and Mrs Kharne’s drive in Radlett is long and steep. The old surface was a concrete strip with gravel shoulders and a tired fence. It has been rebuilt in block paving, with stone walling and a timber fence holding the bank.

The entrance is deliberately left ready for planting. The hard landscaping sets the line; the plants finish a drive like this once the levels have settled.

Steep drives are where the base and the edges do the work. The wall and the kerb are as important as the blocks you see from the road.

Service: Hard landscaping. Town: Radlett.
