Potters Bar

Patio and garden, Potters Bar

A gloomy Potters Bar garden opened up with a feature patio, new paths and a lighter boundary.

Before and after of a Potters Bar garden given a new patio, paths and a more open boundary.
Before and after. Photographs from the original Hertfordshire Garden Landscapes portfolio.

Mr Arlington’s garden was tired and gloomy. Overgrown conifers took the light, and the patio had stopped earning its space.

He asked for a low maintenance garden, which is what most clients ask for. The design put a feature patio at the centre, with paths to and from it, the conifers trimmed back, and new fence panels on the boundary.

The garden reads as a different place: lighter, simpler, and open enough to sit in.

Service: Low maintenance garden design. Town: Potters Bar.
