St Albans
John Mason’s garden
A St Albans plot with a tired patio and half-dead lawn, rebuilt and then maintained each month.

When the team arrived at Mr Mason’s house in St Albans there was a small patio and a lawn that was half dead. Not much else.
The old lawn came up and the ground was dug out for a new patio in sandstone paving, one of the surfaces clients ask for most. New fence panels went in at the same time. Block paving was then used as the edge between patio and lawn. At the back of the garden a deck was added for summer; handrails can be built in where a deck needs them.
Soft landscaping followed the hard work: lawn and planting. The existing soil was poor, so seeding topsoil was brought in for the turf and the new plants.
Mr Mason was pleased enough with the finish that the garden is now maintained every month.
Service: Low maintenance garden design. Town: St Albans.
